新浪体育讯　在西班牙国家队在欧洲杯决赛中1-0战胜德国国家队夺冠后，北京时间6月30日，欧洲杯最后一个悬念也终于揭晓。根据欧足联官方网消息，西班牙中场球员，效力于西甲豪门巴塞罗那队的哈维最终被欧足联评选为本届欧洲杯的最有价值球员(MVP)。　　现年28岁的哈维司职中前卫，在本届欧洲杯中他共首发出场5次，并且在半决赛与俄罗斯的比赛中打进本队第一球，帮助球队自从1964年后首次在欧洲杯中战胜对手。欧足联官方网称，这名小个子中场球员凭借他出色的阅读和控制比赛节奏能力而收到了本届赛会技术小组的注意，最终通过投票，哈维当选了本届欧洲杯的最有价值球员。
　　本届欧洲杯赛中，哈维与巴萨的队友伊涅斯塔，以及塞纳、法布雷加斯等球员共同组成了西班牙队的中场，正是这条中场线也成为了西班牙最终夺冠的关键。决赛与德国队的比赛是哈维第63次为国家队出场，在上半场比赛进行到第34分钟的时候，他在中场的一次直传帮助前锋托雷斯抢在对方门将之前挑射破门。

Spain midfielder Xavi Hernández has been namedthe Castrol Player of the Tournament for UEFA EURO 2008™ after hisstirring displays helped his country to the title.
Technicians' approval
The28-year-old FC Barcelona player appeared in five matches at the finals,scoring once in the semi-final against Russia, as Spain earned theirfirst major international success since beating the Soviet Union towin the 1964 UEFA European Championship. His ability to dictate thepace of the game from midfield brought him to the attention of the UEFATechnical Team who decide upon the Castrol Player of the Tournament,taking into account votes from the public. UEFA technical director AndyRoxburgh said: "We chose him because we think he epitomises the Spanishstyle of play. He was extremely influential in the whole possession,passing, penetrating kind of game that Spain played."
Growing reputation
The 1-0 final victory over Germany in Vienna marked Xavi's 63rd cap for Spain since his debut – made together withteam-mate Carles Puyol – against the Netherlands on 15 November 2000.He had been an unused squad player with Spain at UEFA EURO 2004™ inPortugal but was a first-team regular by the time of the 2006 FIFAWorld Cup in Germany, and showed maturity and no small amount ofbrilliance in Austria and Switzerland.

The UEFA Technical Team has named its UEFA EURO2008™ Team of the Tournament, with no fewer than nine Spanish playersbeing picked in the final 23.

Team breakdown
Thenine-strong group of experienced football technicians who have followedevery game at the tournament decided the selection – and the success ofLuis Aragonés's side was underlined by the fact nine Spain players madethe cut, with the remainder of the squad comprising three players fromrunners-up Germany, four from Russia, two each from the Netherlands andPortugal and a single player representing Turkey, Croatia and Italy.

'Not about reputations'
UEFAtechnical director Andy Roxburgh said: "The Team of the Tournament issomething we put into our technical report for our coaching colleagues.We give them pointers on the players that our technical experts haveappreciated during this event. This team is very much self-contained interms of the tournament – this is not about reputations. In fact thereare only four players in here who were in our UEFA Champions Leagueteam of the competition. It's all very much about the performances inthis competition. We haven't included anybody who was knocked out inthe group phase."
